Holden was an Australian automobile manufacturer and a subsidiary of General Motors, with origins in the 19th century and incorporation as GM Holden in 1931. It built a reputation for locally designed and popular models such as the Commodore, Monaro and Kingswood, and played a major role in Australia’s automotive industry. Holden ceased local manufacturing in 2017 and the brand was retired by General Motors in 2020.
