Studebaker was an American vehicle manufacturer founded in the 1850s in South Bend, Indiana, originally building wagons before entering the automobile business in the early 20th century. As one of the longer-lived independent automakers, Studebaker produced a wide range of cars and trucks known for quality engineering and distinctive styling—most famously the Avanti. Financial difficulties and declining sales led to the end of U.S. production in 1963 and final closure in 1966.
