Packard was an American luxury automobile manufacturer founded in 1899 by brothers James Ward and William Doud Packard. Renowned for engineering excellence and high-end craftsmanship, Packard produced prestigious cars and advanced engines through the 1920s–40s and contributed to wartime production. Financial struggles after World War II led to a 1954 merger with Studebaker, and the Packard name disappeared from new cars by 1958.
